The Triund Trek is a popular trekking destination that attracts adventure seekers from around the world. Situated at an altitude of approximately 9,350 feet, Triund offers a relatively easy trekking route. It is easily accessible to both beginners and experienced trekkers.

On reaching the top, we were amazed by nature’s mesmerizing vistas. The panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountain range left us breathless. Trekking our way up to the mountain top, we almost realized that it is the hardest path that give you the most beautiful views.

Understanding Triund Trek

Before delving into the do’s and don’ts, it’s essential to understand the Triund Trek route.

  • The trek starts from McLeod Ganj, a small town near Dharamshala, and takes you through a picturesque trail of approximately 9 kilometers.
  • The trail is well-marked and passes through enchanting forests, rocky terrains, and charming villages.
  • As you ascend, the view becomes increasingly breathtaking, rewarding you with a magnificent panorama at the Triund summit.

On reaching the top, you can either camp on the mountain top or you can return to the starting point. However, if you plan to return, make sure you start your trek early. Dharamshala and Mcleodganj have the most uncertain climate. It rains at any time. So, it is quite possible that you encounter rain while you trek.

It started to rain when we were halfway on our path to Triund. Because we forgot raincoats, we had to take a shelter in the small shops that people have opened on the way. We waited for almost an hour and a half for the rain to subside. Eventually, the rain stopped and we continued our climb.
