Kailash Yatra pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey found themselves stranded in the picturesque Dharchula and Gunji areas of Pithoragarh district near the India-China border. 

The unfortunate event occurred on Thursday, just 48 hours after a massive landslide on Tuesday evening disrupted access to the critical Lipulekh-Tawaghat border road near Lakhanpur in Uttarakhand. 

As the affected individuals anxiously await rescue operations, the local authorities are mobilizing efforts to ensure their safety and well-being.

Massive Landslide Halts Adi Kailash Yatra

The Adi Kailash Yatra, a significant pilgrimage for devotees seeking spiritual fulfillment, has been abruptly halted due to a massive landslide that occurred on Tuesday evening. 

The landslide effectively blocked the crucial Lipulekh-Tawaghat border road near Lakhanpur, cutting off access to the Dharchula and Gunji areas of Pithoragarh district. This unfortunate turn of events has left numerous pilgrims stranded, with their safety and well-being at stake.
